On Twilight

finally, i have to write a little bit about Twilight and all the hype surrounding the novels and the film based on it, it isn't the frist time i'd written about Twilight, another entry can be found here([link]).

Let it be clear that i'm not pretending to be a professional on vampire genre, just as a long-time reader of vampire/fantasy literature.
I admit that I failed to go on reading past the first three pages of the first book(Twilight), and only had watched the film based on it, I never ever try to read through all of the four books. BUT I'm not saying that it's wrong to enjoy Twilight, or I look down at fans who enjoyed it; but still when it comes to vampire genre…a lot of readers just wanna say: ”VAMPRES? WE’VE HAD READ MUCH BETTER THAN THIS!”

here’re a few more points why I think Twilight(the movie & the plot) sucks.

1. No Twilight is no work of literature, it’s a Mary Sue fanfiction got published, and if I really need fanfiction to read, I can always find some on internet for free, or worse, I CAN WRITE IT MYSELF!
2. The romance between Bella and Edward is shallow, I can never see why Bella loves that vampire boy so much saves his supposedly good-look.
3. Bella and her depending-character is too much a pain in the ass to be likable.
4. Edward, an attractive charming VAMPIRE? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?
5. the author tried to convince us that the romance in her novels is as great and tragic as Romeo and Juliet, but no, I’m not buying it.
6. I’m too old to fall for a teenager vampire romance soap oprea, which the entirely love factor is based on the hero/herione’s appearance/good-look. Damn, it just doesn’t look real and convincing to me!

PS:Of all characters, Alice seems to be the most likable of them all. a pity that she doesn't have more role to play in the movie.

The author had mentioned that she never reads a vampire novel in her life, than i guess her understanding/knowledge about vampires might come from vampire movies or second-hand information that given by other people. Then i feel truly sorry for her...let's think about it. How many decent vampire movies had been produced by mainstream Hollywood in the pass two decades? Two or three i guess....then you might get the idea of what the author has to offer in her 'vampire' books.

PS: if you really want to read male vampire/human girl romance, i recommend The Southern Vampire Mysterious by Charlaine Harris(the novels had been made into a HBO’s tv series True Blood, which I’ve yet to watch), at least we got a more likable, self-depend heroine, a more convincing romance between the boy and the girl, wider worldview on the society of vampires/otherworldly creatures, funnier/more interesting supporting characters for crying out loud!

some people might want to know where to find good gay/lesbian vampire romance, we'll deal with it later.

Plus vampires don't sparkle. It's just not right. I read 3 of the 4 books and honestly, the writing style seems like it's written by a high school girl, not by a grown woman. I like this rant of yours.
:iconvampirekiki:
you had suffered through 3 of the 4 books? you're my hero!!!*pats*

when the translation of Twilight hits the bookshelf of public library, i might really go and read the whole thing just in order to see how bad it really is.XD

haha The first one bored me to death. It was the introduction to the characters and the love plot...and it sucked. The second was cooler cuz there was action and the third had some action (like fighting scenes, not bedroom action...eww) but they still weren't all that great. Good luck reading them! hahaha Just don't poke your eyes out when you're done.

back then when i was in highschool i read the first 4 books of Harry Potter before i got bored of it. but Twilight....i really doubt i can survive the first book.

i posted anotehr anti-twilight entry, free feel to read.XD

haha I don't think I'll have an anti twilight entry. I'm too lazy and have too much hatred. It would all crash and burn with the multitude of f-bombs I will drop. :P Thanks for your entry, though! It was super entertaining and comforts me, knowing that there ARE still people out there who prefer to read works of literature that AREN'T written by wanna-be authors. If that makes sense. I am writing this late and I AM TIRED. hahaha
:iconvampirekiki:
yup, i had found many others who still have common sense to see that Twilight isn't such a great work and pointed it out. you know what even Stephen King commented that "she isn't very good"!!!

King has the final say to nail the coffin lid, is all.XDDD

Haha OMG I love Stephen King. If she said she isn't good, then she obviously shouldn't be as famous as she is. Stephen King knows all!
